Supporting young people with Autism in coaching/ sports activities

Who is this course suitable for? –
Anyone working with or supporting individuals with Autism in a sporting context. Whether you are a football or rugby coach, dance instructor, teacher or parent this course will help provide the knowledge and skills to effectively integrate individuals with autism into physical activities.
Prior knowledge – No prior knowledge of autism or learning disabilities is required to participate on this course.
Summary of course –
It is well known that physical activity has many benefits including improving physical health and promoting social interaction especially in team based exercises. Individuals with autism often struggle with the ability to engage with others due to the traits of the condition.. However, by creating an environment that helps stimulate and promote interaction in the right way then individuals with autism can flourish the same as any other person. This course will help to provide learners with the knowledge, skills and confidence to develop and lead sessions that are autism friendly.
