Contributions wanted to new ‘People’s Platform’
The Future Generations Commissioner for Wales has created ‘The People’s Platform’ to support and challenge how public bodies are involving people in their planning and decision-making processes.
The Well-being of Future Generations Act requires public bodies in Wales to use five ways of working: Long-term, integration, involvement, collaboration and prevention. ‘The People’s Platform’ (powered by SenseMaker®) is a way of ensuring those five ways are adhered to.
This story-gathering platform gives the opportunity for people across Wales to share their experiences, thoughts, challenges and solutions on six priority areas – housing, transport, planning, social prescribing, adverse childhood experiences, and skills.
The platform is designed to capture stories, statistics and suggestions from the people of Wales. Public bodies and others will be able to access the data set and filter the stories by location, theme and well-being goal.
It will ultimately create an archive of lived experience and a national ideas bank, helping to better understand what communities are thinking and experiencing and highlighting opportunities and challenges that the Commissioner’s office and public bodies across Wales need to listen to. To date a series of workshops have been held with organisations across Wales to co-produce the approach and the Commissioner is keen for other organisations to get involved with using the platform.
If any Alliance of Sport members in Wales wish to get involved by sharing their experiences and stories in this area on ‘The People’s Platform’, please find more information on the website which will take you to the Sensemaker Survey and an Expression of Interest form (attached below).
