David Haze
David Haze was named as an Alliance of Sport Ambassador in 2021 following his extraordinary fundraising exploits for the charity.
David set four new world records in four days with his Paddling 4 Change challenge – stand-up paddleboarding across the longest lakes in Scotland, England, Northern Ireland and Wales in June 2021, raising over £2000.
After completing that awesome feat, he made a pledge to attempt an even more difficult challenge – paddling along the non-tidal section of the River Thames from Lechlade to Teddington Lock, a distance of 208km, without sleep, in under 36 hours.
David’s passion to promote prison reform and rehabilitation through the power of sport stems from his time inside during two prison sentences, the second of which ended in April 2020.
He is now employed by Penal Reform Solutions, working with young people in the Criminal Justice System, researching issues relating to their mental health which is intended to influence future policy and practice across justice-related agencies.
