Levelling the Playing Field
In 2019, the Youth Justice Board approached us to explore whether physical activity and sport could help to reduce the overrepresentation of ethnically diverse children in the Youth Justice System.
In response, we secured a £1 million grant and in partnership with the Youth Justice Board and the London Marathon Foundation, we launched a national project designed to achieve two common goals:
- Increase the number of ethnically diverse children taking part in sport and physical activity
- Prevent and divert ethnically diverse children from being involved with the Criminal Justice System
The Levelling the Playing Field project delivered in areas across London, Gwent, West Midlands, South Yorkshire and the youth secure estate. The Project empowered local strategic and delivery partners, strengthened partnerships and increased positive outcomes for our mutual beneficiaries.
For more information, you can check our the projects website: Levelling the Playing Field.
Other publications through Levelling the Playing Field also help to demonstrate the projects impact:

- Leadership Development Through Action Learning toolkit – a collection of leadership approaches, tips and tricks
