APPG AGM and Meeting
AGM AND MEETING OF THE APPG ON SPORT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY IN THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM
Wednesday 22 April 2026 | 5:00 – 7:00 pm | Committee Room 4, House of Lords
The AGM will include the confirmation of officers for the year ahead, followed by a meeting featuring HM Chief Inspector of Prisons, Charlie Taylor, who will share key insights from his recent findings paper, Hardly working out: barriers to physical education in prisons. These will be considered alongside insights from the APPG’s recent Inquiry Report.
Building on this evidence, the discussion will explore how sport and physical activity can better support individuals beyond custody, with a particular focus on strengthening continuity ‘through the gate’ and into the community to improve rehabilitation outcomes, health and wellbeing.
Together, this will help inform how we continue to build momentum towards a more joined-up and effective approach across custody, transition and community settings.
