Youth Justice Board recognise role of sport

The Alliance of Sport is delighted to see recognition in the Youth Justice Board’s 2019-20 business plan of the role sport plays in supporting young people in the criminal justice system.

The YJB business plan sets out a ‘child first, offender second’ approach which will be operationally and practically embedded in all levels of the youth justice system.

James Mapstone, the Alliance of Sport Co-Founder and Chief Executive, said: “We are pleased to see the YJB acknowledging the role of sport in supporting transformational changes and addressing areas of concern with the criminal justice system.

“We look forward to building on our current partnership with the YJB and helping them to further explore the role sport can play in achieving improved outcomes in youth offending.”
