About us

The Alliance of Sport (AoS) works with governments, international agencies, and partners across sectors to coordinate and embed sport and physical activity more effectively within national strategies for crime prevention and criminal justice.

We don’t deliver sport. We strengthen the policies, partnerships, and evidence that make it work. By connecting ministries, agencies and practitioners, we help translate intent into impact — ensuring sport and physical activity contribute meaningfully to safer, healthier and more resilient communities.

Operating across the UK and Southeast Asia, AoS serves as a trusted intermediary between policy and practice — reducing crime, driving collective action and improving systems that deliver long-term change.

Find out how we became a trusted partner helping governments use sport to build safer communities (read our story).

Our mission

Although the evidence is strong, sport and physical activity remain under-used within crime prevention and criminal justice strategies, leading to missed opportunities to engage those most at risk and to support rehabilitation more effectively.

Our mission is to change that: to make sport and physical activity a core component of national efforts to prevent crime, reduce reoffending and build safer communities.

How we work

Working with the Alliance of Sport means collaboration built on trust, evidence and shared purpose. Our approach is guided by three core values: Unite, Evidence, and Advocate.

We:

  • Unite cross sector partnerships — aligning priorities, building relationships, and creating the conditions for lasting impact.
  • Evidence what works — generating, sharing, and applying insight that turns good ideas into credible, measurable outcomes.
  • Advocate for change — influencing policy and investment so effective approaches can grow, scale, and endure.

Together, these values define how we operate: connecting people, practice and policy to make sport an integral part of justice and community systems.

What we do

We help our partners use sport and physical activity more strategically — as a tool for prevention, rehabilitation, and systems improvement.

Our work includes:

  • Engage: Building understanding and capacity through free tools, webinars, and learning events that connect people and ideas.
  • Support: Providing research and consultancy that strengthens delivery, improves outcomes, and demonstrates impact.
  • Transform: Leading collective-impact programmes that unite sectors and governments to deliver change at national and regional scale.

Whether helping a government develop a new policy framework, supporting a sport organisation to evidence its impact, or convening national partners to collaborate — AoS turns evidence into coordinated action.
